Welcome to Downs Syndrome Scotland - West of Scotland Branch
. .

.

.

The West of Scotland branch of Down's Syndrome Scotland is an all-volunteer group with 500 members within our region with a child or adult with DS. People with DS and parents form a majority on all our committees.

Our Vision-

We work to support new parents right across the West of Scotland and give the young people and their siblings a few special events, parties and holidays to look forward to.
We are not professional fundraisers; just a group of ordinary parents and volunteers who employ no staff, so every penny goes directly to support the families.

A grant of £3,500 will pay for a group of 5 young people from Glasgow to attend a weeks adventure holiday at Badaguish Centre near Aviemore, providing a valuable development experience for the young person and respite for families. Smaller contributions towards the cost are also most welcome.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you need more information about our Branch activities or the holiday. We also have photographs of the last two years holidays, which were a great success.

Programmes and Activities-

We do not duplicate statutory services. We provide practical information and counselling following the birth of a child with Downs syndrome. We also provide help with education issues, respite and adventure holidays for children and younger adults, and run a lively theatre group “Ups and Downs” which helps the children and their siblings to develop the confidence, artistic skills and ability to perform in front of the public.
